He then expanding into the world of filmmaking in 2023. His most notable work to date is “Battle of the Briar,” a feature length project that showcases his commitment to elevating the story of pipe smoking and pipe making. Additionally, he recently released “The Great American Tobacco Scene,” a short documentary on the history of the Sutliff Tobacco Company; available to all on YouTube.

Battle of the Briar is the first pipe smoking documentary in over 5 years, since the universally loved Father the Flame. This film follows the inaugural event that took place here, at the Chicago Pipe show in 2023, where the mind of Master American pipe maker Jeff Gracik proposed a live pipe making competition that pinned three artisans against each other, to craft the best pipe possible in just a single hour.
