Battle of the Briar competition: Three world class pipe makers will battle it out using identical materials and tools to see who can make the best briar pipe in one hour.
Ping Zhan
Ping Zhan made his first pipe in 2011 and within two years the world had taken notice with his work being introduced by Scandpipes and Smokingpipes.com. Inspired by the great Danish and Japanese pipemakers, his pipes are highly sought as is his guidance and mentorship by many aspiring makers.
Silver Gray – Website
Silver Gray is a pipe maker with 12 years of experience under the keen eye of master carver, Brad Pohlmann. She won Best Pipe of Show at the 2018 Las Vegas’s International Pipe Show. Her pipes include several innovative shapes of her own design which are executed with extreme precision.
Nathan Davis – Website – Instagram
Nathan Davis began making pipes for fun in 2015 which turned into a line of handmade pipes called nQa. He later studied production techniques with Bill Feuerbach at the Kaywoodie factory which inspired his own line of Greywoodie Pipes. In 2024, Nathan took over production and ownership of Kaywoodie Pipes where he is carrying forward the legacy of the storied American brand.
